Class Descriptions


Acro

BBDC is Acrobatic Arts Certified. This class follows the Acrobatic Arts Curriculum and teaches acrobatic moves such as handstands, bridges, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, aerials and more.

Acro/Jazz Combo

This class consists of 1/2 hour of Jazz and 1/2 hour of Acro.

Ballet

This class develops strong Ballet technique, classical steps, proper body alignment and vocabulary. This style is fundamental to all other dance styles.

Ballet/Jazz Combo

This class consists of 1/2 hour of Ballet and 1/2 hour of Jazz.

Ballet/Tap Combo

This class consists of 1/2 hour of Ballet and 1/2 hour of Tap.

Contemporary

This style is an expressive dance form that combines elements of modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet.

Contortion

This class focuses on developing strength and flexibility in Acro skills such as hand balancing, forearm stands, chest stands, rolling tinsicas and more.

Hip Hop

This class teaches the latest street dance styles and movements to fast paced, age appropriate hip-hop music.

Jazz

This class focuses on developing strong Jazz technique including leaps, turns, strength and flexibility while dancing to up-tempo music.

Jazz/Tap Combo

This class consists of 1/2 hour of Jazz and 1/2 hour of Tap.

Leaps & Turns

This class is designed for students looking to improve their technique and work on skills such as leaps, jumps and turns needed for various styles.

Lyrical

This class combines elements of Jazz and Ballet techniques and utilizes the lyrics of the music through emotion.

Modern

This technique class focuses on the dancers' relationship to the floor, the use of breath, fluidity of movement and improvisation

Pre-Ballet

This class teaches the fundamentals of Ballet while also working on improving motor skills, flexibility and music recognition.

Tap

This class develops rhythm, style and sound while focusing proper Tap technique.

Program Break-Down

Recreational Level:

  • Beginner/Intermediate Level
  • Designed for students taking 1-3 classes per week
  • Open enrollment
  • Classes are categorized by age
  • A student's age/grade is determined by how old they are as of the first day of class
  • All recreational classes perform in the May Recital (each class requires one costume)

Team Level:

  • Intermediate Level
  • Designed for students taking 4+ classes a week
  • Classes are categorized by grade
  • Must audition to enroll in the program
  • All team Jazz & Hip Hop classes will compete
  • Team members have the opportunity to do additional competition dances
  • All Team classes perform in the May Recital (each class requires one costume)

Core/Intensive Level:

  • Advanced/Pre-Professional
  • Students are required to take a minimum of 6-8 hours
  • Must audition to enroll in the program
  • Multiple Core classes compete and students participate in a Production
  • Core classes perform in the May Recital (each class requires one costume, except for strictly technique classes)
  • Core students have the opportunity to do additional competition dances

Refund Policy

BBDC has a NO REFUND policy. If a student wishes to drop a class within the first two weeks of semester one, we will credit the account. If a student wishes to switch classes within the first two weeks they may do so if there is room available in the class they want to switch to. If a student drops a class or switches after the first two weeks, a credit will NOT be given.

Absence Policy

Core, Intensive and Team students are only allowed to miss 3 classes per semester. We recommend that recreational students also try not to miss more than three classes because it will affect their ability to keep up.

Class Add/Drop

Add: To add a class, please check with the front desk for availability.
Drop: A drop form must be submitted to the front desk or the account will be charged for the next semester. Classes will not be refunded but may be credited if a class is dropped within the first two weeks of semester one.

Costumes

Costume forms will be handed out at the beginning of October. All forms are due by November 1st. Any form turned in after November 1st will be charged a $25 late fee. Costumes will be handed out after April vacation. If there is an outstanding balance on an account, costumes will be held until the balance is settled. BBDC cannot guarantee any costume that is ordered after November 15th. BBDC is not responsible for costume alterations.

Snow Policy

If Natick Public Schools are closed due to snow we will probably be closed, but check our website for confirmation. If the roads are clear and we can get our teaching staff in, we will remain open.

Private Lessons

Private lessons may be arranged for children. Many of our instructors teach a variety of styles, so even if your favorite style isn’t offered in our program, we may have an instructor that can accommodate you. BBDC is also happy to do private and semi-private dance lessons for weddings. Private lessons are $85 per hour and should be booked and paid for at the front desk.

Lost & Found

BBDC’s lost and found is located in the the hallway of the main building. The drawers in the first two benches contain lost clothes. The third bench contains lost shoes. Lost and found will be cleaned out periodically and its contents will be donated to charity.
